Biography

Dr. Catherine Rymph was appointed Dean of the University of Missouri Honors College in November 2022, after serving one and a half years as interim director.  She is also a Professor of History and served as Chair of the Department of History (2018-2021) and as Interim Chair of the Department of Religious Studies (2020-2021).

Her research and teaching interests concern women and American politics, public policy, and child welfare, and she is an affiliate of both WGST and the Kinder Institute. She is the author of Republican Women: Feminism and Conservatism from Suffrage through the Rise of the New Right (North Carolina, 2006) and Raising Government Children: A History of Foster Care and the American Welfare State (2017). She was a recipient of the Gold Chalk Award for graduate teaching in 2019 and previously served as a Fulbright Lecturer at the University of Greifswald in Germany.
