Biography

Dr. James van Dyke’s research is in the history of modern German art, with a particular focus on art and politics. His teaching at Mizzou ranges across the field of modern and contemporary art, from the painting in the years leading to the French Revolution to Institutional Critique of the 1970s to contemporary photography and visual culture. He has lectured in the Honors Humanities Sequence has taught a few courses in the Honors College: an experimental team-taught course on color and, more recently, an honors section of the writing-intensive Introduction to Visual Culture (ARH_VS 2850HW).
