Biography
Mili Kuruvilla-Dugdale is an Associate Professor in the Department of Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences at the University of Missouri, Columbia. She directs the Neurogenic Communication Disorders Lab, and her research focuses on improving foundational knowledge about speech physiology in neurodegenerative diseases, with the goal of developing more sensitive assessments as well as improved speech therapies. Dr. Kuruvilla-Dugdale and her collaborators are also developing innovative systems to accurately track tongue dysfunction and build personalized electronic voices for individuals with progressive speech loss. Her research is funded by the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD), Coulter Foundation, and Spinal Cord Injury/Disease Research Program. Her research has appeared in leading scientific publications including Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis and Frontotemporal Dementia, Cognitive Neuroscience, and Journal of Speech, Language, and Hearing Research. She provides mentored research opportunities for Honors College students.
