Originally from Virginia, Traci Cox earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with Honors and Distinction in English and a minor in Anthropology from James Madison University. Upon receiving a J.W. Fulbright Fellowship, Traci left the Blue Ridge Mountains for the Slovak Republic, where she taught English to Slovak high school students. She returned to Virginia to pursue a Master of Fine Arts degree in Creative Nonfiction Writing at George Mason University. Traci moved to the Midwest for the Ph.D. program in English at The University of Missouri. While teaching English, Folklore Studies, and Honors courses, Traci has been completing her doctoral dissertation, a memoir-in-essays entitled Missed. She enjoys reading, cooking, camping and hiking with her Husky-Pyrenees pup Koda, and experimenting with mini-farming.
