PreMed Scholars Program & MedOpp

PreMed Scholars

Now in its sixth year, the Honors College PreMed Scholars Program provides a strong foundation for future success and gives students the assertive edge needed to succeed in the pursuit of pre-med studies and the admissions process to medial, dental, or optometry school.

The program plays an important role in preparing students for medical education and for their future professional roles as physicians, researchers, and community leaders.

To apply for the program, visit the PreMed Scholars website.

The MedOpp Advising Program

MedOpp is a co-curricular program that provides pre-professional advising, seminars, workshops, and activities for all pre-med, pre-dental, pre-optometry, and pre-podiatry students at MU, that are designed to complement your academic and scholarly achievements in preparation for application to professional programs.  A student participating in the Program and utilizing the services of the office need not be an Honors College student.

The program provides a variety of services that include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Individual advising sessions with current and prospective students
  • Committee interviews with evaluative letters for candidates
  • Letter service
  • Orientation to pre-med, pre-dental, and pre-optometry programs, workshops, and seminars
  • Handouts, reference guides, Blackboard page, web-guides, and publications, including a resource library

Students who are interested should visit the MedOpp website and visit the Honors College to begin working with the advising staff.
