Senior Administrative Assistant
Laura Ursprung Nerling is originally from Alton, IL. She first moved to Missouri when she attended Truman State University for her B.A. She then moved to Buffalo, N.Y to pursue her M.A. She returned to Missouri where she received her PhD in Bronze Age Archaeology in 2021 from the University of Missouri-Columbia. During her PhD studies, she taught several courses on campus and worked in the Writing Center as both a writing intensive and graduate writing tutor. She also spent two years living in Athens, Greece on fellowship with the American School of Classical Studies. Prior to her graduate career, Laura worked for the City of Columbia as a Recreation Specialist, where she managed numerous employees, facilities, events, and multiple budgets. She is thrilled to return to an administrative role and to join the Honors College as an Administrative Assistant. In her free time, she is either with her husband and two pups (Minos and Theseus), consuming historical mysteries in either written or audio formats, or running the numerous trails around Columbia.
