Originally from Virginia, Traci Cox earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with Honors and Distinction in English and a minor in Anthropology from James Madison University. Inspired by her undergraduate travels in South America and Europe, Traci left the Blue Ridge Mountains for the Slovak Republic after receiving a J.W. Fulbright Fellowship to teach English to Slovak high school students. After a year in the small town of Žilina, she returned to Virginia to pursue a Master’s of Fine Arts degree in Creative Nonfiction Writing at George Mason University, where she continued her teaching career. A lifelong learner, in 2015 Traci moved to the Midwest to begin the Ph.D. program in English at The University of Missouri, where she taught English, Folklore, and Honors classes for six years. Currently, Traci is completing her doctoral dissertation, a memoir-in-essays entitled Missed. Traci enjoys reading, cooking, teaching and taking yoga classes, hiking with her Husky-Pyrenees pup Koda, and experimenting with mini-farming.
