Biography

Dr. Jim Spain’s area of interest is dairy cattle nutrition and management. His focus has been on the impacts of periparturient nutrition and management on the health and productivity of dairy cows. In addition, he has been involved in a multidisciplinary team studying the effects of heat stress on dairy cattle. His teaching contributions to the Honors College is teaching a four-semester sequence of honors tutorials -The Amazing Ruminant; Cows!; Cows by the Numbers; and The 100 Day Contract with the Dairy Cow.
