Rebecca Grollemund

Biography

Dr. Grollemund is an historical linguist who uses quantitative methods to classify languages in order to better understand the human history. Her research covers the description, classification and history of African languages spoken in Sub-Saharan Africa with a particular interest in Bantoid and Bantu languages. Since 2016, along with Professor Michael Marlo (Department of English), she has supervised dozens of undergraduate students every year through the ASH program (Arts, Social Sciences, and Humanities) with the “Documenting Luyia Languages” project, funded by the Honors College.
