Biography

Jen Schaffer has lived in nine states, but has called Columbia, Missouri, home since 2006. She considered herself a displaced Northerner, having graduated from high school in Fairmont, Minnesota, earning her bachelor’s degree in journalism and political science at Iowa State University and earning her master’s degree in political science at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Prior to coming to the Honors College, Jen was an academic advisor at Mizzou for more than 18 years. She coordinates the Honors scholarships and research programs. Jen is excited to return to her professional roots in Honors, as she was an active participant in the Honors program at Iowa State and began her professional career working with Honors students.

In her spare time, Jen enjoys reading, spending time with her daughter, watching and coaching volleyball, and exploring the mid-Missouri food scene with her partner.
