Strategy One: Prepare students for ambitious academic and professional goals, as well as engaged citizenship, through Honors-funded early research placements along with specialized  scholarship  advising and mentors.

  • Rework current interdisciplinary research scholarship programs for incoming Honors students to create more effective pipelines for prestigious awards and career development.  
  • Expand and create new early mentored research and creative activity opportunities, through partnerships with engineering and other academic units, to attract outstanding students with research potential. 
  • Strengthen scholarship cohort advising for students. 

Strategy Two: Provide students with Honors structures that inspire sustained and informed problem solving, collaborative community partnerships and public impact. 

  • Expand community-engaged, applied-learning opportunities that connect students to Missouri communities and address complex societal challenges.  
  • Integrate high-impact leadership opportunities, nonprofit engagement experiences and health related study abroad into other co-curricular activities. 

Strategy Three: Prepare students for ambitious postgraduate and professional trajectories through expanded preprofessional advising, individualized mentoring and purposeful career discernment.  

  • Create a cohesive Honors co-curricular framework that connects research, leadership, service and experiential learning into purposeful pathways. 
  • Expand specialized preprofessional advising and support services. 
  • Enhance structured professional preparation programs for competitive graduate and professional school admission. 

Strategy Four: Advance students toward nationally competitive distinction through intentional preparation for prestigious fellowships, awards, grants and postbaccalaureate opportunities.  

  • Expand structured preparation for fellowships, scholarships and nationally competitive opportunities.
  • Strengthen institutional capacity for fellowship advising and student support.  
  • Develop peer and alumni networks that support nationally competitive achievement. 

The Honors College advances the core goals of the University of Missouri by promoting student success, deepening research engagement and strengthening community connections across campus.
