Launched in the 2017-18 school year, the Cherng Scholars program is supported by Peggy and Andrew Cherng and the Panda Charitable Foundation.
Recognizing the academic achievements of out-of-state incoming freshmen, the program’s goal is to create a selective and cohesive group of scholarship recipients.
Award Amount and Expectations
Cherng Scholars will receive a one-time scholarship of $2,000 their first year on campus. This award is dispersed in two equal installments during the year and only if the student meets the program requirements. Their first semester on campus, students will also be enrolled in a special one credit hour seminar class together with Honors College Show-Me Scholars. Cherng Scholars are expected to remain active members of the Honors College and complete their Honors Certificate.
Incoming freshmen who are non-Missouri residents and have an ACT composite score of 29 or SAT score of 1330 are eligible for the Cherng Scholars Program.
