Honors Communications Team

Biography

The Honors Communications Team is comprised of five Founder’s Memorial Scholars; Olivia Anderson, Maggie Courtney, Sam Ennis, and MJ Montgomery. See below for more information about each scholar!

Olivia Anderson is a senior at Mizzou majoring in Photojournalism and Anthropology, and was born and raised outside of Houston, Texas. Liv has been taking photos for the Columbia Missourian since fall of 2020, and loves getting involved in anything that allows her to pursue photography and get to know people. In her free time, she likes to play D&D, watch Netflix and YouTube, and hang out with friends.

Maggie Courtney is a senior at Mizzou double-majoring in Strategic Communication and Sociology. Originally from Springfield, Missouri, Maggie came to Mizzou for its stellar Honors College and lively campus atmosphere. Within the Honors community, she serves as an Honors Ambassador and is a Founders’ Memorial Scholar. Outside of Honors, Maggie is a member of the Alumni Association Student Board, Kappa Alpha Theta fraternity, and the University Treble Choir. She has been honored as a Walter Williams Scholar and an Omicron Delta Kappa Top 14 Distinguished Freshman. During her free time, Maggie enjoys going to the movies, listening to true crime podcasts, and trying out local coffee shops with friends.

Sam Ennis is a junior at Mizzou majoring in Journalism (Strategic Communications) and Political Science. Sam chose Mizzou because of the great journalism program and campus community. He serves as a Founders’ Memorial Scholar, a member of the Alpha Gamma Sigma fraternity, and a Walter Williams Scholar. In his free time, Sam enjoys watching football and baseball, hanging out with friends, and trying new things. 

MJ Montgomery is a senior at Mizzou majoring in Journalism and German. MJ is originally from Bolivar, Missouri, and came to Mizzou for its Journalism school and Honors College opportunities. In the Honors College, MJ is a Founders’ Memorial Scholar and a Walter Williams Scholar. MJ is also involved in Model UN, YDSA, MUJA, School of Journalism newsrooms, and the LGBTQ Center. MJ is a freelance artist and a communications intern for the College of Arts and Sciences.
