An Editor’s Perspective

On April 26, six Honors students sat down with Honors College alum Margaret Holt for a luncheon at the International Café. Holt graduated from MU in 1973 with a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and is the current Standards Editor for the Chicago Tribune.

Honoring Excellence

More than 50 students, ranging from freshmen to seniors and representing a wide variety of majors, received awards at the annual Honors College Awards Ceremony.

Service Break

While Spring Break means a trip to the beach for many students, for some it means an opportunity to dedicate themselves to service. Several honors students joined other MU students during the recent Spring Break in a week of service through Mizzou Alternative Breaks

Distinguished Alumnus

Fifty-three years ago this month, civil rights activists began a march from Selma, Alabama, to Montgomery, Alabama, that ended in the brutal murder of activist Viola Liuzzo. MU alumnus Jim Turner returned to campus to speak about his experience prosecuting members of the Klu Klux Klan for Liuzzo’s murder.

Starting Early

In only her second semester of college, freshman Rachael Hillyer is already making a name for herself across campus. In addition to playing on Mizzou’s club soccer team and joining Pi Phi Sorority, she is the Sinclair School of Nursing’s first Discovery Fellow, an Honors College program for eligible freshmen to participate in mentored research.
